The decisions you will have to make if making your own cover:

Is the cover for outdoors? You will use material that is appropriate for the application. Something outdoors will need to be a heavier material, and perhaps even waterproof, depending on the weather where you live and whether or not the furniture is protected from the weather.

If the cover is for indoors, you should first determine if the table is for adult use or child use. I know this might sound like a strange decision, but for adults you can select something for décor.
